Sun Identity Management: The F5 hard has arrived, and I am beginning the process of getting the hardware installed at the proper locations. Due to some networking issues between the VUH and Sungard data centers, we are having to re-architect the services that we will be providing on the VUMC side.
ITS Website Replacement: This project is nearing its final stages. I have been moving the publicly accessible hosts from the existing production servers to new homes to make the cutover of the ITS website much easier.
Oracle Web Separation: This server has been patched to current RHEL standards. I made a few modifications to the server configuration such as adjusting firewall rules and disabling non-essential services, and I have submitted the system to the Network Security team for vulnerability assessment. I have received the initial assessment reports, and I am in the process of remediating issues where possible. This server uses several Oracle-branded open source applications so the remediation process requires a bit more investigation that normal.
Webmail Cleanup: I cleaned up the Squirrelmail database and optimized the tables. The user activity table had over 27 million rows and searching the table was rather inefficient. The old data was removed to bring the database in line with our data retention policies.
StudentOrgs SSL Certificate: I replaced the SSL certificate on the web servers handling the student organizational websites.
SiteMason Patching and Performance Monitoring: I have been spend a bit of time monitoring and investigating recent performance issues. We have encountered some strange items like extremely large data records being submitted to the PostgreSQL database and intermittent periods of high CPU usage on the web server. The OS patches have also been applied to the web server, and they are scheduled for the database server.
