NetTracker Maintenance: The Oracle server supporting this service suffered a drive failure.  Althought service was still available, performance was severely impacted. Plans have been set in motion to move the Oracle databases from the two direct attached D1000 to the SAN.  The drive was replaced. The NetTracker data has been scaled back to the original intended rolling 13 month window.

Nagios Replacement: The new Nagios server has been built and is ready for testing.  The App Hosting team is making the necessary local firewall adjustments to verify proper operation.

JProd Upgrades: Apache, ModJK, and OpenSSL were upgraded on both jprod1 and jprod2.

ITS Website Redesign: One virtual machine has been created for initial installation and development.

Web Services: Two more virtual hosts have been added to the collection, bringing the total to 63 on this server pair.

IDEV Support: I have been doing some minor adhoc work for the IDEV team to support some of their development efforts.

Lifecycle Replacments: Meru2 has been shutdown.

Imap2 Outage (Operational Event): Ireestored service to unavailable server and investigated primary cause.  I also performed the preliminary system investigation to determine the cause of the outage, and referred two time windows to the network security team for further investigation.

NetTracker Update

Peter Woods | Web Services | Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

The nightly NetTracker run just finished about half an hour ago.  The run now takes just a bit more that 8 hours to process the logs, which is about 6 hours shorter than the week before.  Keeping the data retention at a rolling 13 months definitely helps.  The only problem now is going to be scheduling the monthly archival.  The archive process to drop the last month is terribly inefficient.
