Web Server Migration: This project is in the final stage. The replacement ITS web services pages have been created, and are being populated with information and feedback from the web migrations. The new services signup form is also available. Nearly all of the student organization websites have been migrated to the studentorgs server. The remaining part of the week will be used to troubleshoot and fix websites that have made it into the migration queue.
VICC Migration: The Ingram Cancer Center sites on the VICC Sitemason server and web-srv2 were migrated to an ITS-manage virtual machine. This server uses the Oracle InstantClient and PHP5, which are minor departures from the standard web environment.
MOO Migration: The MOO has been migrated from helios to the new Linux servers. The MOO database is archived every 4 hours. I also created proper startup scripts to re-start from the last database point. These features were missing in the old environment.
NDE Website Disaster Recovery: The NDE web server suffered a hardware failure, and was restored to a virtual machine built from the shared web environment template. Kenon restored the files from the original system to a secondary drive, and key files were migrated to their new locations in VM server. I imported the local MySQL databases on the shared database server, and adapted their original Apache configuration to work in the template. I also setup and configured TFTP server for downloading configuration files. We are still working through minor configuration issues; however, they are relatively minor issues.
VUnetID Replacement Server: This server has been built from the shared web hosting template. The IDEV team has necessary sudo access to install the required applications and make configuration changes. This server will be cloned to two load balanced servers once a stable point has been reached.
Blog Services: I have added documentation to the blog site regarding posting from Microsoft Word. I'm also continuing the testing for the next WordPress upgrade. Several members of the AppHosting team have received the update, and everything appears to be working so far.
Weekly Incident Reports: I have been creating summaries of the weekly NOC incident reports. These items are reviewed, and team comments and resolutions are added to the Magic tickets for future use.
DNS/DCHP/IPAM Project: I provided input on AppHosting DNS operations. Other project involvement was minimized due to web migrations.
Operations: I had to work with the Network Security team on a few operation issues such as Radius access and incident remediation. I also created a proof-of-concept utility/monitor for the PhotoDB application. I also started work to implement their LDAP reporting tool; however, Dan Raymer took this over due to time constraints.
I just download the evaluation version of Adobe Contribute CS3. I was hoping that somewhere in the 198MB download that there would be working SFTP functionality. Alas, no luck. The CS3 version fails at the same point as version 4. It's unable to verify my connection information.
The main VICC website and its related redirects have been cutover to the ITS-managed server. It will take about a day for the cached DNS entries to expire, and for the server to receive its normal traffic load. The server is built upon the new shared web foundation. In new car sales talk, this server has PHP5, MySQL connectivity, and Oracle connectivity. The Oracle connectivity was accomplished using the Instant Client and the OCI8 PHP module. The OCI8 module had a small learning curve for myself and our DBAs, but the peculiarities were quickly identified and corrected. Both the MySQL and Oracle clients can also use encryption when communicating with their respective database servers.
I just got the pictures off my phone so I'm just now getting around to posting this. Last week someone decided that the door handle of my car was attached too well and decided to forcibly remove part of it while it was parked out in the parking lot. I went out to the local Pull-A-Part to find a late model 240 to scavage the drivers side door handle for my car. They definitely had a new group of cars. While walking around, I found two Volvo 122s. The usually don't have anything like this.

There was even a nice 1984 245 Turbo. Unfortunately, it was missing the wheels, the turbo, most of the air intake, and the dash was in the hatch. All of the body panels were in really good shape.

I also found a nice 90 240 which I pulled the door handle from. Unfortunately I forgot to take a picture of the donor car. Once I got the "new" parts cleaned up at home, it took me about half an hour to disable my driver door to install the handle.
I've updated my Wordpress installation to 2.1.3, and I'm now looking for volunteers in the group. Once everything it vetted, I'll roll this out to the production environment.
I'm testing my documentation for blogging from Word 2007. Since I'm writing this in Word, I'm not really sure how this is going to look compared to the other existing posts. It does give me the advantage of using all of the normal Word formatting tools.
Web Architecture Migration: 34% of the web content has been migrated, redirected, or deleted. 13% of the sites have been copied over for testing. The pace of the migrations has picked up, and status updates are supplied on a tracking page .
ESX Guest VM Patching: I applied the VMware recommended RPM for the MPT Fusion driver. This will prevent the Linux file systems from becoming read-only in the event of high IO or SAN fabric failover.
Pager Forwarding Phase II: This project is ramping up. We are evaluating various hardware/network solutions to accommodate the new features.
Blog Services: There are now 98 blogs on the server.
Daily Administration: I created accounts on the bastion hosts for the Owen migration. I've also performed some work for the IDEV team to get a toolset for them on the ITS web server for reports and monitoring.
