March 2007 MARS Report

I just figured out that Microsoft Word 2007 can be used to update my VU Blog. Sweet! As a salute to Word, I will include a random WordArt for no apparent reason.
Now I can publish the same content on my SharePoint blog that I publish on my VU Blog without having to duplicate my effort. Cool. I’m smart. J I know what you are thinking, “Ooh Kendra, I want to use Word 2007 to update my blog too”. I won’t hold all of my knowledge to myself. Here are the instructions:
Open Word 2007
Select the Office icon in the upper left corner of the screen and select New
Select New Blog Post, click the Create button
If you are not automatically prompted to enter your account information, click Manage Account on the Blog Post menu
Click the New button
In the New WordPress Account dialog, type http://blogs.vanderbilt.edu/~[user.name]/xmlrpc.php
Under account information, type in your VU Blog username and password
Click OK
Project Server Implementation – Project Server integrates with SharePoint in theory, but the actual implementation doesn’t seem to be happening for me. To get at least one win, I tried installing Project Server in stand-alone mode on a VM. Blamo, it worked! So now I’m kinda at my wits end. I don’t know where to go with the troubleshooting process, and of course I am the only person in the entire planet attempting to deploy Project Server 2007 in an existing SharePoint 2007 farm. Go figure.
Apphost1a replacement – I have installed ColdFusion and begun to migrate content. I have installed ASP.NET v2 for one of our customers. I am still having an issue with viewing that website on the new server. I guess that I will have to contact the user to get that issue resolved. I assume it is some sort of permission issue either on the web files or on the database will have to be resolved.
Let me not forget good ole WSUS v3.x. I have successfully installed the latest version of WSUS on a VM. I currently have two dev servers reporting to this box. The only problem is that I have three computers in the OU. Hmm. I dunno. Each time i run wuauclt /detectnow one of the two machines that is not the WSUS server disappears. Well maybe that’s a new feature of WSUS.
Oh yeah, Altiris. Altiris has yet again reared its ugly head. We are trying to finally wrap-up the implementation of this product. Just say a little prayer for us.
