February 2007 MARS Report

February 28th, 2007 by kendra.thorpe

  1. Apphost1a Replacement – began configuration of the new virtual server. I also restored four databases on the new MS SQL 2005 cluster. The SQL 2000 databases seem to function correctly on the 2005 cluster. I still have to install ColdFusion on the VM. Wish me luck.
  2. EPO Implementation – Since new virtual servers arrived about one week ago, Kenon and Scott so gratiously craved out a VM for the EPO implementation. I installed EPO on the VM and began the configuration with some help from Roland.  So far I have the EPO agent installed on the Apphost1a replacement server, but I have not been able to make configuration changes or update the definition versions.
  3. OS DST 2007 Patches on Windows Machines
  4. Provided assistance to Roland S. with the database portion of the IBM Director Implementation project. Although Roland created a Windows account for connection to the SQL database, it didn’t connect. I discovered that it would need a SQL account instead in order to function correctly.
  5. Sharepoint Implementation – I finally got crawling to work. What is crawling in SharePoint terms you ask? Well that is an excellent question. Crawling is what enables searches on SharePoint, and before I got that fixed even though a word would appear either in a document or on a site SharePoint would not find it.  After nearly a full day of battling with the SSP database, I finally fixed the issue around 4:30p to my dismay.  Any who, the way I was able to get crawling to work was I created a new SSP with a new SSP database. Apparently the original database and SSP was corrupt, and my friend Google didn’t have the answer to my issues.

I know I did more, but I’m really tired right now and I can’t think of what it is.
