Mays Monthly Activity Report (MARS)
The Merry month of May, was a fun month.
Monitoring: Service Center Operations Manager
The majority of the month was working on monitoring with Service Center Operations Manager. We went in to production on May 11th. Highlights include:
- Getting 25 machines being actively monitored by SCOM 2007.
- Getting email notifications to work.
- Setting up different levels of notifications.
- Install of consoles on Zafar, and Kevin’s monitoring machines.
Some issues still working on include:
- Aimworx02, osistapi01, Aimworxfe01, aimworxbe02 VistaKMS all are in a non-monitoring state. Still working with MS on this.
- Audible alerts. Have been working with a group in newsgroups trying to come up with an acceptable solution.
- Noise reduction: Working on getting false positives resolved as we add more machines to the service.
Email oneness project:
- Have been tasked throughout the month to pull together information for people on this project. Mostly research and compiling.
Dashboard:
- Worked with Vartan to start pulling together metrics for Exchange. Mostly around number of people, number of messages delivered, number of viruses, and top 20 storage users. I took some time, and automated most of these through scripts that would gather and email the information to Vartan and other interested individuals.
Exchange Enhancement: Out Of office delivery to the internet
- Have been working on getting this coordinated and ready to implement. Took time to do the research to verify that it would not put messages into a loop with the Listserv box. Scheduled to go forward at 5pm May 31st.
Exchange migrations:
- Moved 20 people to the VUExchane environment.
Misc. Magic tickets.
- Created Public Folder, resource mailboxes, Distribution lists, and gave rights accordingly.
