July Activity Report
31 07 2007- We finished the deployment of the Cisco 9509 SAN Director this month. We move the final 32 port blade from the old director to the new one. This evenly split our available ports across both switches. Now if we lose either 1 or the other we’ll still have connectivity to the SAN for all of our servers.
- Work continued on the VUspace3 project this month as we begin to research possible solutions to meet all of our current requirements of the service.
- De-duplication technologies are being considered for our backup environment. Currently under consideration are DPM, Data Domain, and Avamar. We will be inviting Vendors on site sometime soon to discuss the possible benefits of these various products for our environment.
- The Storage team has also been working with Law this month to deploy their environment in our hosted Storage solution. I have been working with Jason Bradley this month to get his servers attached and functioning on our SAN.
- Earlier this month with the assistance of the Storage team, the Exchange team discovered a performance issue on the Exchange servers being caused by maintenance operations that were running into production time for unknown reasons. We were able to identify these performance issues using EMC Analyzer and taking a look at historical data.
- We’ve also been working with Tony to implement RMSE in the new Exchange test environment. We ran into software revision issues and now we are in the final stages of troubleshooting the last few problems preventing replication from happening in the test environment.
