Exchange Group mail delivery issue
Troubleshooting and identification of the issue that was causing problems when delivering mail either to groups or to email addresses that were restricted to being mailed from specific groups in AD. The issue was finally identified as being because we have a Global Catalog server in our site in the root domain with Domain Global groups. The resolution recommended by Microsoft is to convert all our groups to Universal. While pursuing this resolution an interim fix has been put in place to remove FR-1 from the Global Catalog servers that our Exchange Servers can talk to.

Exchange 2003 Metrics
Manual creation of Exchange metrics for: Number of mailboxes total and per server, Average size of mailboxes based on mailbox type, Disk utilization broken down into actual mailbox size and overhead, and estimated capacity based on subscription and disk availability with and without online defrag disk available. This metric will be manually reproduced weekly till it can be automated for Dashboard.

Exchange 2007
Continued work in assisting with design, configuration and troubleshooting of issues.

SCOM Box (ITS-HCWNAP08) OWA, activesync and Message transaction monitors
This is important in our environment as it actually tests the functionality of our Exchange 2003 environment. It logs into OWA and activesync and then also test latency on message delivery between our servers.

Nagios Rich Web Monitoring of OWA on a server and service basis
At this point in time we do not have NOC consumption of our SCOM alerts. This monitor in nagios verifies that a mailbox on each of our backend servers is available via OWA from each individual Front End Server. There is also a monitor in place that monitors this as a service point to show uptime for the service as a whole even if individual redundant pieces are down.

Cacti Metrics for Exchange\Windows Servers
Utilizing NSClient we are able to pull specific performance monitor statistics from our Exchange boxes. Currently the only useful information that is being pulled with the stock cacti configuration is connected users. Working towards expanding the use of NSClient and Cacti to be able to provide metrics for any performance monitor data point on our Windows Servers.

Install\Configuration of Enterprise License Server in MS-Test
Testing functionality of Windows Server 2008 ELS (Enterprise License server). The concerns were that the ELS is site based, wanted to verify that manual entry into another site to use the ELS in another site was successful. Rolling this into production would allow us to only have 1 License Service for Terminal Server licenses for Vanderbilt.
